The condition of former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley remains very critical. They are placed on ECMO and IABP. He is admitted in the AIIMS for the last 10 days. In view of Jaitley’s delicate condition, the Uttar Pradesh government has postponed the swearing-in ceremony to be held today for cabinet expansion. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and leaders of various political parties have reached the hospital to get their health information. Kovind reached AIIMS on Friday to know about the health of the former Finance Minister, where Jaitley is undergoing treatment in ICU.
Modi went to AIIMS to know Jaitley’s health on 9 August. AIIMS has gone to see Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other top BJP leaders Jaitley. The process of reaching the hospital of those who knew the condition of the former Union Minister continued on Sunday. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey, Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reached AIIMS to know Jaitley’s condition today. Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived at the hospital on Saturday to know Jaitley’s health.
Jaitley has been admitted to AIIMS since 9 August after complaining of weakness and discomfort. Jaitley did not contest this year citing health. Paswan tweeted and said, “Today at 2 pm I went to AIIMS to get information about Jaitley’s health. I also met the doctors who are treating Jaitley. Kejriwal also went to AIIMS to know about the health of Jaitley and wished him a speedy recovery. Kejriwal later tweeted, “Arun went to see Jaitley (AIIMS). I pray to God for his good health and recovery as soon as possible. ‘
The former Union minister is admitted to the ICU of AIIMS due to trouble in breathing and also has soft tissue cancer. According to hospital sources, Jaitley’s condition is critical. They are placed on a life support system. Sources said Jaitley has been put on extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) which helps the heart and lungs function properly. He went to New York on 13 January this year for treatment of a cancer disease and returned in February. He has also undergone a kidney transplant.
